Office 365 Name Change To Microsoft 365

Say goodbye to Office 365, and hello to Microsoft 365!

Microsoft recently announced that Office 365 would be getting a new name, a name that happens to be the same name as existing product of theirs. What do you need to know? What happened to Office 365? How will this impact your plan? Don't worry, we're here to answer your questions.

Microsoft explained that name change as an opportunity "to simplify our offerings and give our clients more tools, we are changing our Office 365 offering to Microsoft 365, a suite of software that includes everything from Office 365, plus more useful apps."

What are the name changes?

  • Office 365 Business Essentials will become Microsoft 365 Business Basic.
  • Office 365 Business Premium will become Microsoft 365 Business Standard.
  • Microsoft 365 Business will become Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
  • Office 365 Business and Office 365 ProPlus will both become apps included in Microsoft 365. Where necessary, we will use the “for business” and “for enterprise” labels to distinguish between the two.

What is the difference between Office 365 and Microsoft 365? Microsoft 365 includes everything in Office 365.

Is there anything new or different in Microsoft 365 Apps for business that wasn't in Office 365? Any new features? There are no price or feature changes to plans at this time.

Are all of the Office 365 plans going away? What isn't changing? None of the plans are going away. The plans that you currently have will stay the same featuring updated names.
