SHARE THE LOVE! TUNE IN TO THE MICHIGAN HUMANE SOCIETY’S 15th ANNUAL VALENTINE’S TELETHON ON THURSDAY, FEB. 10

Proceeds from day-long event to benefit animals in need in metro Detroit

SOUTHFIELD – This year, give a Valentine’s gift that will last a lifetime! Tune in for the Michigan Humane Society’s (MHS) 2011 Valentine’s Telethon on Thursday, February 10, airing on WXYZ-TV Channel 7 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Share the Love by calling 1-866-MHUMANE or donating online at www.michiganhumane.org. Funds raised by the 15th annual Telethon will help MHS care for more than 100,000 animals in need this year.

“Right now, countless animals in the metro Detroit area are in desperate need of food, shelter and life-saving medical care,” said Cal Morgan, President and CEO of the Michigan Humane Society. “Through your support of the 2011 Valentine’s Telethon, MHS will transform animal lives by providing second chances and loving homes for thousands of homeless, abused, neglected and abandoned animals.”

Hosted by Channel 7 anchor Alicia Smith, the MHS Valentine’s Telethon will air during commercial breaks throughout the day and will feature adoptable animals, heartwarming stories of animals rescued from abuse and neglect, and information on the Michigan Humane Society’s many life-saving programs and services.

Although the needs of each animal that comes to MHS are different, on average, it costs MHS $156 to transform the life of an animal in need. One-time or monthly donations of any amount will make a real difference for animals in need of food, care and loving homes.

MHS Valentine’s Telethon donations can be made online at www.michiganhumane.org on or before Thursday, February 10, or by calling 1-866-MHUMANE on February 10.

MHS thanks the corporate supporters of the 2011 Valentine’s Telethon, including Frontline, Heartgard, Friendly Automotive Group, US-Mattress.com, the Centaris and Wesley Berry Flowers.

In support of the Telethon, Wesley Berry Flowers designed a “Share the Love” bouquet exclusively for the Michigan Humane Society. A portion of the proceeds from every bouquet ordered now through Valentine’s Day will benefit MHS. To order, call 1-800-WESLEYS or visit www.800wesleys.com/mhs.

The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) is a private, nonprofit organization which cares for more than 100,000 animals each year, while working to end companion animal homelessness, provide the highest quality service and compassion to the animals entrusted to our care, and to be a leader in promoting humane values.
